Peace Center to Screen  award winning Documentarys weekly on important  social justice issues at WMU, Free

Kalamazoo Mi,  ─ The Kalamazoo Peace Center is hosting a weekly documentary/political film series focusing on Social Justice issues. In collaboration with multiple student groups the Peace Center aims to raise consciousness and awareness of issues ranging from Militarism, Fracking, Patriarchy, affordable education, government repression and more.

The Peace Center will be screening films every thursday from Nov- Dec in the Bernhard center. Films include the  award wining Gaslsnd about Fracking across the U.S., Somos Una América: Shut Down the SOA!, Mansome, Chicago Conspiracy, If a tree a Falls, and more. Each screening will begin with popcorn and a  shorter 5-15 documentary picked by the crowed.

Gas Land is about Fracking, a new controversial method of extracting natural gas that is coming to michigan, and has caused over 1000 cases of contamination. Somos un America a spanish english bilingual film about peoples resistance across the hemisphere to a military training center for Latin american solders. Mansome a humorous film which explores male body image focusing on facial hair. If a tree falls oscar nominated 2012 best documentary, a a story of the Earth Liberation Front and destruction of old growth forests and the sabotage of timber company’s, SUV dealerships, and more.
